Atmospheric Disturbances

Communication with the dead, theories of infinite universes, The Royal Academy of Meteorology, and one Tzvi Gal-Chen are all part of the novel's ingeniously constructed plot. In spite of these wild ingredients, it's a calm, inward work, held together by the even-tempered and relentless intellection of the protagonist. As the book review cliche runs, this is a remarkably assured debut. More than that, Atmospheric Disturbances is a fiercely inventive meditation on love, a serious page-turner, and a filebin of weird and beautiful sentences. Special thanks for Pumukl for the pdf version!

Modern World Nations-Colombia

The only country in South America to border both the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, Colombia is the continent's fourth-largest country and has the second-largest population behind Brazil. The country's terrain is also one of the most physically diverse in South America, with snow-capped volcanoes, swampy marshes, tropical savannahs, and lush rain forests dotting its landscape. The country is variously made up of people of European, African, and Native American descent, and both the Spanish language and Catholic religion bring these diverse groups together. Colombia takes students on an in-depth journey through this geographically and ethnically varied nation. Handsomely illustrated with full-color photographs and peppered with maps and concise facts at a glance and history at a glance features, this new book is a comprehensive exploration of the people, culture, history, geography, environment, economy, and government of Colombia.

Modern World Leaders-Michelle Bachelet

In 2006, Michelle Bachelet made history by becoming the first woman to be elected president of Chile. The daughter of a Chilean Air Force general, Bachelet and her family were gravely affected by the upheaval that occurred after the 1973 military coup that derailed the government of Salvador Allende. Her father was arrested, and died in prison. Bachelet and her mother were tortured and finally fled Chile for Eastern Europe. They eventually returned home, where Bachelet attended medical school. After the military rule ended, she entered politics, serving as minister of health and later defense minister. During the early part of her presidential administration, she dealt with important issues head-on. Michelle Bachelet thoroughly examines the life and accomplishments of a world leader who has brought new light to a nation emerging from a dark past.
